Tear up the contract and start afresh… You are stopping you… Kill the negative narrative… Gods mercies are new!
Over the many years of church ministry, working with people in different capacities, there has always been a basic universal goal “Improvement” 🤷🏽♂️… Ok, it’s not profound, BUT if there was improvement every year, the compounded effect in people’s life would be super evident right??? Yet 10 years into a believers journey, some seem to have stopped improving or dare I say it, even gone backwards😩 Why???
The WHY is the hard part…. Because it’s a vast topic, however I will give my two cents based on what I have seen and experienced.
1) 🥁…. “The Past” - When you really think about it, something that no longer exists and is nothing but a memory, occupies so much head space in the present and therefore determines ones future 😱. God wants to give you hope and a bright future, that means the devil wants you in a state of hopelessness and darkness… The past is the best shot the devil has of dragging you down… There is another enemy that at times can be more real, persistent and aggressively working against you?? That enemy is YOU!
The YOU that remembers the past stuff, the YOU that speaks out life shaping words, the YOU that fears, the YOU that puts you down.. That YOU is the voice within that is forever speaking. It’s that inner chatter.
“You don’t deserve it” “What a failure” “You always stuff things up” Those kind of statements are damaging to your identity and detrimental to your self improvement.
Apostle Brian Tamaki has stated “The me I see is the me I will be”. Maybe we need to ask this question - Am I in debt to my past failures??? The book of Lamentations 3:22 says “Gods mercies are new every morning” Let’s look at it like this… Every time I wake up, I get a fresh start at life! A new beginning! If God has wiped your debts and given you new mercies, it’s time you start walking in that. Let yourself be free and have another shot at it. Tear up the contract that holds you in debt!
In summary let the past die so you can have a rebirth… You are the main culprit when it comes to holding you back from greatness, by always regurgitating past failures. Kick the negative mindset to the curb and allow this new positive you to take control of the ship.
